Official plans & conditions ↗03 / Set up
Installation and activation are different. Follow your particular provider’s instructions.
Confirm the exact model and country variant supports eSIM, and that your phone is unlocked. A model name alone is not enough.
Save the installation instructions and support details. Check when the validity period starts before activating your plan.
On arrival, select the travel SIM for mobile data and enable roaming if the provider requires it. Disable data roaming on your home line and automatic data switching.
Turn off Wi-Fi and try maps or messaging. If it fails, check the provider’s APN and activation instructions and contact support.
04 / FAQ
Not necessarily. Providers may set daily high-speed allowances or apply fair-use controls. Hotspot sharing can have a separate limit. Read the specific plan terms.
Many travel plans provide data only. App calls work over data, but ordinary calls and SMS need a suitable voice plan. Mobal offers Japanese-number plans; check the selected product.
If your device supports the required simultaneous SIM setup, you can keep your home line active. Your home carrier may charge for calls or messages abroad; check its terms.
Use your phone’s recent data history as a starting point. Maps and messaging generally use less than video streaming. Download offline maps and compare top-up options before buying.
Check the named network and its coverage for your actual route. Mountains, tunnels and remote areas can have weak service on any network. Save important information offline.
